A series Harry Potter under development
On April 12, 2023, Warner Bros. Discovery officially announced the development of a series Harry Potter. A program that should be spread over ten years since then each season will correspond to one of the novels in the saga by JK Rowling. This will address many details and characters left out of the films.
For this series, a brand new cast will form. The studio then has the difficult task of finding successors to the iconic faces of the franchise, be it Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint or the late Alan Rickman and Robbie Coltrane.
JK Rowling reacted to the announcement by saying:
Max’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of my books is important to me, and I look forward to participating in this new adaptation that will achieve a level of depth and detail that only a long-running television series can provide. .
Casey Bloys talks about JK Rowling
CEO of HBO and Max (new platform that will bring together HBO Max and Discovery+), Casey Bloys was asked about the screenwriter’s involvement in the project, in an uproar since she made comments deemed transphobic. Refusing to speak on this matter, he nonetheless stated:
I don’t think this is the place to talk about it. It’s a conversation that takes place online. This is a nuanced and complicated topic and one we won’t discuss. Our priority is what we will show on screen. The Harry Potter story is something positive, about love and self-acceptance. This is our priority. What we see on the screen.
Casey Bloys also assured that JK Rowling will officiate as executive producer of the series Harry Potter.
