Carlos Vives presents “Escalona: It had never been recorded like that”, his new album studies and, at the same time, a 30-year journey back to its roots.
And that’s no way to put it. Exactly three decades ago, the singer starred in the television series inspired by the life and work of Rafael Escalona, composer of Vallenato folk hymns such as “El Testamento”, “Jaime Molina” and “The House in el Aire”.
And as part of the party, Carlos Vives summoned his best players to compose the ideal selection of vallenato, the very one that has accompanied him on his successful path: La Provincia.
So, together with his compadre Egidio Cuadrado, he began a new adventure to find Escalona’s lost notebook and the environment that surrounds it, to re-record those classics that catapulted him to 1993.
“Escalona: Nunca Se Había Grabado Así” is an album that explores 12 of Rafael Escalona’s most memorable compositions.
