35 years later kiss me vampireNicolas Cage once again embodies a bloodsucker, and last but not least, in Renfield. The actor lends his likeness to Dracula in this action comedy from Chris McKay, where he gives the answer to Nicholas Hoult. The latter plays the famous assistant of the lord of darkness created by Bram Stoker, who tries to break free from his grip after spending decades bringing him fresh meat.
The first pictures of Renfield give hope a wild new performance by Nicolas Cage. In full promotion of the feature film, the actor returned to a famous anecdote that happened many years earlier, which bears witness to all of his investment.
Swallowing cockroaches? Never again !
In kiss me vampire, published in 1988, literary agent Peter Loew becomes convinced that he is turning into a vampire, convinced that he has been bitten. During one scene, the character catches a cockroach in his kitchen and swallows it, after chewing it very quickly. If the disgust is totally noticeable during this step, it’s because Nicolas Cage actually ate an insect during filming.
Trapped by director Robert Bierman, actor too repeated this disgusting experience for a second take. Asked by Yahoo!the actor said:
I will not do that anymore. I even regret that I did.
In an audio commentary bykiss me vampire, Nicolas Cage describes eating cockroaches as a “professional decision”. He adds that he really wanted to disgust viewers:
When people see the cockroach crawling into my mouth, they really react.
