The brain is the most complex organ in our body and deserves special care.
“It may sound like a broken record, but when it comes to brain health, there’s no substitute for eating well, exercising, getting enough sleep, and reducing stress,” says Mike Ball, MD.
Vegetables and fruits, meat, poultry and fish, an hour and a half of aerobic exercise per week, puzzles and crosswords – all of this will help you maintain your cognitive abilities and memory. But there are not only things to do, but also things to avoid.
lack of sleep
Sleep is vital for every person – this is when our brain is restored. “Older people tend to need slightly less sleep than younger people, seven to eight hours instead of seven to nine,” says Dr. Bol.
If you are constantly deprived of sleep, you will become forgetful and irritable. Try to keep a sleep schedule and not doze off during the day, give up coffee yesterday and air the bedroom – for all this the brain will thank you.
