Christina Applegate: Suffering from multiple sclerosis, confides in her career

Christina Applegate breaks her news

The duo he formed with Linda Cardellini, at the time of the three seasons of the successful series Dead to me, was celebrated and served as a reminder that Christina Applegate is one of America’s top comedic talents. However, and unfortunately, we probably shouldn’t see her on screens anymore… Indeed, the actress of Mars Attacks! AND Featured Host: The Legend of Ron Burgundy mentioned in Vanity Fair columns the serious effects of multiple sclerosis which she announced she would undergo in August 2021. Effects, in her words, too heavy to hope to see her again in front of the camera…

“It really sucks”

When asked by reporter Jessica Shaw about her daily feelings, Christina Applegate answers frankly:

With multiple sclerosis, there’s never a good day. You just have “little” bad days. (…) There are things that we think of as acquired, and which I thought acquired. Coming down the stairs, carrying things… I can’t take it anymore. It really sucks. I can still drive my car short distances. Can I bring food to my daughter. I can go up stairs, but not down them. (…) I have my friend who lives with me during the week and helps me take care of my daughter. And on weekends I have medical assistance at home.

Obviously Christina Applegate misses being on set, especially when it comes to the series. Dead to mein which he held one of the leading roles with Linda Cardellini.

I probably won’t be working in front of the camera again, but I’m so happy to have been next to someone who is by far the greatest actress I’ve worked with in my entire life, and possibly the coolest person I knew. (…) I miss my friends. I miss Linda. I miss Liz Feldman. I miss James Marsden. I miss the whole experience but at the same time last year was so awful, I’m relieved I don’t have to tire myself out to finish the day.

If Christina Applegate will now prioritize her health and family life, she should still continue to exercise her talent in production and voice dubbing. She explained it to Los Angeles Times in February 2023, wishing “do as much voice acting as possible to make money and make sure my daughter is fed and we have a roof over our heads“.
