A new film, destined for cinemas, which will be directed by Dave Filoni. In addition to this feature film, a season 4 is also in the cards, still led by Jon Favreau. THE May 2ndthe Hollywood Screenwriters Union announced it went on strike. An action to fight especially against wage earners who are not up to their job. According to them, Hollywood screenwriters they are paid less and less. The union also demands that screenwriters be paid when their work is broadcast or rebroadcast, both on television and on SVOD platforms. Most of their problems stem from the explosion of Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ or Apple TV+, which have revolutionized the way television works.

Finally, they also denounce the screenwriters the operation of small room, a practice increasingly present in Hollywood, which consists of bringing together several screenwriters to write a series before it has even been officially ordered. Era 16 years that the writers’ union hadn’t gone on strike. A strike that will probably last a long time as the Hollywood industry does not take into account the requests of its screenwriters. Worse still, industry professionals believe that the screenwriters picked the wrong time to ask for new shots, while the film world suffered heavy financial losses during the Covid-19 crisis.

The strike movement bans screenwriters from taking any paid writing jobs. Nor do they have the right to go to a set to make writing changes to scripts completed before the strike.

Season 4 is overdue

According to the website Weekly production, the filming of The Mandalorian it is reported. Due to the writers’ strike that is shaking Hollywood, the production of the series Star Wars has been postponed to month of november later (when it was originally scheduled to start in September). However, Jon Favreau has confirmed it the scripts for the next eight episodes of the series are ready. Jon Favreau explains that filming cannot begin as-is, since he believes script changes are needed for this season 4.

However, the strike will have no impact on the distribution of Ahsoka, scheduled for next August on Disney+nor on that of The Acolyteof which the filming has already been completed.
