Titanic: bad turmoil for Netflix in the United States after this announcement

The Titanic reaps new victims

111 years after the sinking of the famous liner, which caused the death of 1500 people, the Titanic indirectly claimed new victims. Indeed, the Titan submarine of the OceanGate company, which organized tourist tours of the wreck on the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean, imploded several hundred meters deep. All five people on board, including French explorer Paul-Henri Nargeolet and the president of the company, died.

After this tragedy, many voices were raised to denounce the lack of safety and unreliability of the submarine, including director James Cameron. Indeed, in addition to having directed the film titanicthe latter is an expert on the seabed. Descent dozens of times to view the wreck of the ocean liner, had also broken, on March 26, 2012, the world record for solo submarine diving, almost 11 km deep in the Mariana Trench. This feat was also told in the documentary Deepsea Challenge 3D, the adventure of a lifetime released in 2014.

Bad buzz for Netflix

Netflix has announced that the film titanic by James Cameron will be available from July 1 on its American and Canadian platforms, ie less than ten days after the tragedy. A timing that made many Internet users shiver, who expressed their discontent online, especially on Twitter.

If the timing is truly unfortunate, it’s still completely random. In fact, Netflix, like other streaming platforms, sets their own release schedules months before they go live, especially for issues of rights windows. It should also be noted that Netflix hasn’t communicated on this release like it usually does. The platform also did not disclose the timing of this post in view of the unfortunate Titanic news.
