Walking Dead : the universe continues to expand
Originally, Walking Dead it’s a Comic series in 33 volumes created by Robert Kirkman between 2003 and 2020. In 2010, the director Frank Darabont is commissioned by AMC to adapt this cult work in a television series. Born then Walking Dead, notably led by Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus and Jon Bernthal. The show lasted for 11 seasons and concluded last year.
From many spin-offs have emerged. Robert Kirkman’s universe has continued to develop through similar series Fear the walking dead (2015), The Walking Dead: The World Beyond (2020) or even Tales of the Living Dead (2022). The Walking Dead: The Dead City, led by Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan, just began its broadcast on AMC. We too look forward to seeing you soon Rick and Michonne which, as the name suggests, will focus on the relationship between the characters of Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira.
The Walking Dead: Rick Grimes’ film becomes a series
One of the other highly anticipated projects in Robert Kirkman’s universe is The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. A spin-off series centered around the character played by Norman Reedus. As a reminder, Daryl Dixon has been around since the original series and quickly joins Rick’s camp. Over time he becomes one of his faithful trusted men.
Daryl Dixon is back
Daryl is one of the most loved characters by fans. Nevertheless, this hero does not exist in Robert Kirkman’s comics and was invented for the needs of the series. An addition to the brand since he has become one of the iconic characters of Walking Dead.
It is therefore logical that AMC offers him its own spin-off series. Created by David Zabel, this series will take our hero to French territory. The American channel has just unveiled the first extract from The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon (video in an article). Two minutes of never-before-seen footage portraying the character through desolate and abandoned settings. During the filming of the series, Norman Reedus was notably seen at La Défense, or float on a makeshift raft off the French coast. In this first video, the protagonist appears to be wandering in the south of France. In particular, we see our archer in the empty streets of Marseille.
We still don’t know what Daryl Dixon is doing on French soil, but in the clip the character grabs a walkie-talkie and explains: “My name is Daryl Dixon. I come from a place called the Commonwealth. It’s in America. I came here looking for something, and all I found was trouble. If I don’t come back, tell him I tried. Damn, I keep trying“.
It remains to be seen what our mercenary is after in our good old French country. Anyway, the inhabitants of the PACA region will be satisfied recognize certain landscapes such as the Pont du Gard. The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is scheduled for next fall and should then to delight French spectators.
