The Exorcist – Devotion : the direct sequel to the cult film

After dedicating a new trilogy to Laurie Strode and Michael Myers with Halloween, Halloween kills AND Halloween ends, David Gordon Green takes on another cult horror franchise. With The Exorcist: Devotionthe director uses the same concept as his intrusion into the saga started by John Carpenter, namely that he delivers a new direct sequel to William Friedkin’s 1974 classic and adapted from the novel of the same name by William Peter Blatty. Intends to ignore The Exorcist 2: The Hereticthe underrated The exorcist, sequel as well as the prequel The exorcist: at the beginning.

In this new play, a father played by Leslie Odom Jr. seeks help from Chris MacNeil, again played by Ellen Burstyn, who was going through sheer hell watching helplessly as his daughter Regan (Linda Blair, also reprising the role) is possessed in The exorcist. Fathers Karras (Jason Miller) and Merrin (Max Von Sydow) were going for it free the teenager from this fearsome entity, called Pazuzu.

The first images of David Gordon Green’s film give hope for a new plunge into darkness in the lineage of his model, where the devil spares no one and where this time it is not a but two teenage girls who are under demonic influence. A trailer that also includes the essential theme Tubular bells by Mike Oldfield

Lydia Jewett, Olivia Marcum, Ann Dowd, Jennifer Nettles and EJ Bonilla round out the cast of the feature film. The Exorcist: Devotion it is to be discovered in theaters October 11, 2023. In the meantime, find the first trailer at the top of the article.
