Stray is played by a cat
Developed by BlueTwelve Studio, Stray will get a film adaptation. The game puts the audience in control of a stray cat that gets lost in a city populated by robots and tries to return to the surface with the help of a drone called the B-12. The announcement was made by Robert Bairdfrom the independent animation studio that will handle the production, the Annapurna Animation:
This is a game about everything that makes us human, and there are no humans in it. It’s a comedy about a cat and a robot and has a hilarious dynamic. So there’s an inherent comedy to it, but there’s no human in this movie. I think that’s one of the reasons the game has become incredibly popular: you’re seeing the world from the point of view of an adorable cat.
Baird he also pointed out that the film should have a “hopepunk” aesthetic: one that highlights positivity, kindness and optimism as rebel weapons. “I think if we’re going to do this adaptation justice, this will be the first and greatest ‘hopepunk’ movie ever.‘ that has already been done.”
Strayhowever, would not be the first game to hit the big screen. The Last of Us became a hit series on HBO, while Super Mario Bros. The Movie (2023) made over $1 billion at the worldwide box office.
