Saw X: a real butcher’s shop?
Horror fans are impatient: the horror saga on October 25th Saw is back in theaters. And this tenth part promises to return to the basics of John Kramer’s story.
In fact, I saw X, takes place between the first two films of the saga. Tobin Bell returns as Kramer, as he travels to Mexico in hopes of trying an experimental treatment for his cancer.
But things change when he discovers that he has been trapped and that it’s all just a trick. fraud targeting vulnerable and desperate patients.
Driven by a new objective, he then decides to take revenge and to trap the criminals in turn. And when it comes to traps he has lost none of his splendor, developing diabolical and ingenious mechanisms, such as the terrible “eye vacuum cleaner”.
The first reviews of the film demonstrate a welcome return to origins and rank I saw X among the best sequels of horror saga started by James Wan. And if you expect blood, you’re served (the studio also distributed vomit bags to the first viewers…).
In the United States, the police were alerted
In France, I saw X was banned from minors under 16 years old. We can therefore expect particularly bloody torture sequences.
On the other side of the Atlantic the police even had to intervene during the editing of the film. In fact, the director of the film revealed this during an interview given to NME that he had to do it interrupt an editing session when the police knocked on the study door.
It was the neighbors, alerted by the screams, who called the authorities, thinking that someone was actually torturing behind the door. This was the montage of the scene with the terrible “eye vacuum cleaner”.
Someone rang (…) and I see on the camera my editor opening the door and the police say “they called the neighbors saying someone was being tortured to death here” and he said “no but I’m not just working on a film. You can come in and look if you want.” They laughed and said it must have been a very realistic performance. It was fun.
