Netflix has hired a new accountant –

Netflix has hired a new executive to oversee its accounting, replacing Netflix CFO Spencer Neumann, effectively replacing JC Berger, who was the company’s global controller.

Ken Barker, recently chief financial officer of video game giant Electronic Arts, will become Netflix’s chief accounting officer and report to Newman, who will remain the company’s chief financial officer. The company announced the hiring of a bartender during its public offering on Monday.

Barker will be released on Netflix on June 27, with the official rank of VP and Chief Accountant. Prior to joining EA, Barker held executive positions at Sun Microsystems and Deloitte & Touche LLP.

The CEO joins Netflix at a critical time for the company, especially in two areas where the CEO will be heavily involved: cost and revenue.

Netflix has taken a more cautious approach to spending, imposing layoffs and reviewing spending on certain projects, including big-budget films.

The company lost subscribers last quarter for the first time in a decade, raising broader concerns about the streaming ecosystem. Neiman told shareholders that the company is closely monitoring where it is spending its money.

“We’ve tried to be smart and prudent in terms of increasing these costs to reflect the reality of growing business revenues,” he said.
