The five Friends actors break the silence
After the death of Matthew Perry on October 28, which shocked fans of Friends across the world, his five co-stars from the cult series said in a joint press release issued 48 hours after the announcement of his passing that it was time to reflect and that they would speak later.
It’s done now because after the tribute from Matt LeBlanc and that of Courteney Cox, it is now Jennifer Aniston who has posted, on her Instagram account, a touching message for the one with whom she shared the adventure of Friends for ten years. Even though Rachel and Chandler’s characters weren’t close (if we don’t take into account the scene Rachel fantasized about them kissing), Jennifer Aniston and Matthew Perry had a special relationship. The latter had even declared that she had been very present to support him when she had gone through difficult times.
“Matty, I love you so much”: Jennifer Aniston’s tribute
Just like Matt LeBlanc and Courteney Cox, Jennifer Aniston chose to publish her tribute to Matthew Perry on his Instagram accountfollowed by more than 44 million people:
Oh my, this really hurt… Saying goodbye to our Matty unleashed a wave of crazy feelings in me that I had never felt before. We all experience loss at some point in our lives. Loss of a life or loss of a love. Being able to truly ground ourselves in this pain allows us to feel moments of joy and gratitude for having loved someone so deeply. And we loved him deeply. He was truly a part of our DNA. The 6 of us were always together. They were a chosen family that forever changed the course of our lives and our destiny. Matty knew he loved making people laugh. As he said himself, if he hadn’t heard “laughter”, he would have thought he would have died. His life literally depended on it. And my God, he did it. He made us all laugh. And laugh heartily. Over the past few weeks I have reread our text messages. Laugh and cry, then laugh some more. I will keep them forever. I found a message he sent me one day, just like that, out of nowhere. This says it all. (See second slide) Matty, I love you so much and I know you are now completely at peace and without any pain. I talk to you every day…sometimes I can almost hear you saying ‘could you BE crazier?’ Don’t worry, little brother. You always made my day…
In the text in question sent by Matthew Perry we can discover a behind-the-scenes photo Friendswith Matthew Perry making Jennifer Aniston laugh with the following text: “Making you laugh brightened my day“What Jennifer Aniston responded to.”Ooooh the first of THOUSANDS of times“.
Finally, in her post, Jennifer Aniston also posted the scene in which Rachel says goodbye to Chandler, before flying to Paris. A scene in which the emotion was palpable, but which Chandler, as usual, played down with a joke.
