Former NASCAR driver and Fox Sports analyst Clint Boyer ran over and killed a pedestrian in southwest Missouri earlier this month, police said.
The accident took place June 5 at US Exit 54 near Osage Beach, Missouri, according to a report by Lake Ozark Police.
Bower, a resident of Emporia, Kansas, pulled over shortly after the accident and called 911, police said. The woman, Mary Jane Simmons, 47, of Cementonton, died at the scene.
The accident report states that Boyer showed no signs of disability and provided a roadside blood sample that showed no traces of alcohol.
A police statement said a crystalline substance was found along with the woman’s belongings and in the recreational parking lot where she was staying, residents said she was under the influence of drugs.
Bower retired in 2020 after winning 10 cup races in 15 years. His sense of humor has already reached the Fox Sports booth since he started working as a second career.
