pam and tommy Stars Lily James and Sebastian Stan were just as shocked by their transformations into Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee, respectively, as the rest of the world.
“There were rumors that I was involved very early on and I was incredibly shocked, amazed, and I think it piqued my curiosity that they were thinking of me in this part,” James told T.HR presents: With the support of Vision Media. “It was a complete shock to everyone. The first makeup test I did, we just put in a few things to figure out, and in the end, I had a full-on panic attack and thought, “I can’t do this, I can’t. I’ll give up on everyone, that’s the biggest shame. Then the way they went through the prosthesis… I was left with a piece of forehead, teeth and eyes. And when we needed it, I put everything on my chest, but I seemed to think about what they had achieved. And the same thing, when I looked at Sebastian, we were able to fully exist and believe that we were these people and in turn put a lot of effort into really trying to convincingly establish ourselves and do them justice. And everything was related. We couldn’t live without each other. It was really unusual. ”
James said he has watched Anderson’s key interviews since the 1990s “to understand his mannerisms: he talks like a million miles an hour and only stops for breath”.
“I was just doing my best to feel personal and spontaneous, but I was also learning and learning to talk and move, I was training, I was losing weight, I was getting everything back, I was working. “I found his piano tone with an amazing actor,” explained James. “I really wanted to protect your justice and I did my best to emulate you, to make you feel the essence of who this person is, in whatever way I can.”
At the time pam and tommyA video was posted on social media showing James doing 600 sit-ups a day to prepare for the role. However, James said this is not entirely accurate as he was doing 600 shots a day for another film he was applying for. fast girls (2012) and not for the Hulu series.
For Stan, imitating Tom Lee’s kick was the most difficult task in his preparation. “I never did drama. And I remember asking [director] craig [Gillespie], ‘Do you want to use a double or something?’ He said, “Oh no.” So I started playing drums on weekends in Canada, trying to get through the weekend classes. So I remember, a month later, I sent him a video of him doing this and he said, “Yeah, that’s wonderful.” “I only have to speed it up to about 100 frames, but it has to be good,” added Stan with a smile. “It was a combination of waking up in the morning, drinking coffee, running and fasting for half a day, trying to take 20,000 steps to lose weight. And before I run, I basically reproduce all the interviews I’ve accumulated on YouTube or the internet from the 80’s to the present, everything I can find to understand everything. It was over, so I would go home and watch the videos.”
Stan said that one night he did karaoke and woke up with a voice he thought perfectly reflected the voice Tommy Lee needed. “It feels like I smoke 10,000 cigarettes. And then it would manifest in the pillow screaming to keep him mad, and then I knew Lily was doing the same thing. We’d do four scenes and I’d say, “Do you want a pillow?”
pam and tommy Creator Robert Siegel was hired to film a show about two people who didn’t want to be on it.
“You read as much as you can,” Siegel said. “In this case, we had a lot of information about the tribe. We have, of course, a tribal autobiography! tomiland, which gives us a lot of information. And then there’s the courtroom records that were actually very helpful for the deposition episode of the sixth episode. And once you’ve collected all the information out there, you’re just trying to be really right with these people. We always diligently try to be by your side. Pam is definitely the protagonist of the story. We always wanted to make it clear that this was a crime committed against them. You don’t know if they’re going to watch the show, but you want to approach it like they’re watching a show.”
“I know, Pam, but they were both our number one audience,” agreed Dave Devinsentis, the show’s three-episode author and executive producer. “But Pam in particular suffered the most and actually survived in this completely self-sufficient, brilliant way, like him. And we really wanted to show whether we worked or not. [telling] Throughout his life story, we still want to show how we see him and how we see him.
In terms of creative freedom, Siegel said he remained fairly loyal. Rolling Stone An article by Amanda Chicago Lewis that tells the story of how a man named Rand Gauthier, played by Seth Rogen on the show, stole a sexy tape. “We were very committed to the article,” Siegel said. “There isn’t much on the show that isn’t in the article. I’m a little proud. You are always ready for the opportunity to invent things. We’ve done a few things, but for the most part, that’s what the article is about.”
“We are not entirely convinced that the narrative presented by Rand Gauthier in the article is absolutely true, but it is quite a story,” he added.
