Netflix: what’s new in this first week of 2024?
2024 has already begun and big films are expected on Netflix in the coming months. For the first week of this new year, the streaming platform has thought of cinema fans, including the arrival of a highly anticipated filmwhich should excite subscribers.
This is the feature film The snow circledirected by JA Bayona (The impossible), which returns to the tragic true story of the survivors of a plane crash in the Andes in 1972, who had to face extreme conditions for their survival. Inspired by the book “La Sociedad de la Nieve” by Pablo Vierci, this intense film explores the controversial aspects of their survival, including cannibalism. JA Bayona consulted survivors and their families for representation authentic and respectful of this moving story, already adapted for cinema in 1993, in the film The survivors with Ethan Hawke.
The miniseries Double trap adapted from Harlan Coben’s novel of the same name, it promises to make subscribers’ heads spin. The plot follows Maya, a grieving woman investigating the mysterious death of her husband Joe. After installing a camera in her daughter’s bedroom, Maya discovers disturbing images that call into question the reality of Joe’s death. Maya’s military past, as well as the previous tragedies in her life, are woven together in a web of mystery and twists.
