Elizabeth Holmes, founder of Theranos, is still on trial for wire fraud abandonment Showman Elizabeth Meriveter provided the final script for the Hulu Limited series. “I had the idea to end the series with Elizabeth at Burning Man with her new boyfriend,” Merveter said. THRBut he points out that doing such footage would be too expensive. “They told me that in the last few episodes I could make music or go to Burning Man. I realized I had another idea.” Replacing the Desert Costume Run was the last scene of the series when Holmes (Amanda Seyfried) finally confronted a person close to him about his deception, leading to the downfall of Teranos.
Elizabeth, who has divorced her much older boyfriend Sunny Balvan (Navin Andrews), who was also president and COO of Theranos, is now full of life as she imagines her future with the new love of her life. “I felt like a detective,” said Meriveter, who tracked Holmes on social media. “I was trying to understand what this new life with Bill was like and what it was like.” He admits that the new life Holmes shared on Instagram gave him an idea of where Elizabeth Holmes would be as a character in the series finale. “In a way, it brings back the 1920s, but at the same time, I don’t think people change that easily. He wanted to show the conflict what he was telling the world and what was really inside of him.
Michaela Watkins plays Linda, Teranos’ legal advisor. “Mikaela is the person I want as a friend and who I’ve worked with before,” says Meriveter. “I feel like he’s become my steward now, speaking to Elizabeth as if the public could speak to him.”
While this line seems to represent the spirit of Silicon Valley, it is also taken directly from the Holmes trial, which ended in January, a few months earlier. abandonmentPremiere. “It really bothered me,” says Meriveter. “I spent a lot of time figuring out how Elizabeth defended her decisions. When I heard this, I heard for the first time that she had failed. And that was the closest he could bring himself to understanding the choice he had made. This was a moment that was added after the trial. ”
This is also a line that came from real life. “Elizabeth took the stage and presented another Theranos car as her last attempt at company,” says Meriveter. “As I was leaving the stage, someone yelled, ‘You’re hurting people!’ [as close as we got] Before the trial.”
In the next scene, the series finale, an angry Elizabeth lets out a huge cathartic scream that everyone on set felt except for her furry constellation. “We had to film halfway through without the dog because the dog was so scared,” says Meriveter.
