“I didn’t feel comfortable”: a star of the Taxi Cash saga on the latest film

Taxi 5 is not unanimous

We no longer present the Taxi saga. With a first film released in 1998, it quickly became one become cult with French audiences and includes five films. The first feature film directed by Gérard Pirès and written by Luc Besson introduces us to Daniel (Samy Naceri), a Marseille taxi driver with a passion for speed, who sees his life turned upside down when he meets Émilien (Frédéric Diefenthal), a clumsy police officer , who stopped him for speeding.

The latter offered him a deal to help him get his driving license back: to help him stop a gang that was spreading terror in Marseille. This unexpected meeting gave birth to unlikely duomixing frenetic chases and police investigations, all sprinkled with a good dose of humor.

The first film laid the foundations for what would become one of the most emblematic sagas of French cinema. In total, the Taxi saga attracted more than thirty million spectators to cinemas.

Taxis 5, directed by Franck Gastambide and released in 2018, attempted to reboot the saga, but significantly divided audiences. And not only. The actor Bernard Farcy, who plays the indescribable Inspector Gibert, the origin of one of the most cult lines of the saga: “General alert”, did not appreciate the feature film.

“I am not satisfied with the result”

Bernard Farcy, recently guest on the show Luxury Jordan this Tuesday, March 12, he didn’t mince his words regarding the last part of the saga in which he wore the Gibert costume. In fact, she stated that she initially found the idea of returning to the role of the character interesting, because he saw it as an evolution (Gibert had become mayor).

But on set he realized that he was out of place and that “the atmosphere was not the same” as when he shared the bill with Samy Naceri and Frédéric Diefenthal. After watching the movie and finding out that his character only had a few scenes, confided that he was “not satisfied with the result”. And if Franck Gastambide asked him to return to another film, he would say “no”. On the other hand, Bernard Farcy doesn’t close the door on another Taxi film if Samy Naceri and Frédéric Diefenthal return.
