Elite Thieves: What is this action movie?
Released in French cinemas in August 2018, Elite Thieves is an action film directed by Steven Quale and written and produced by Luc Besson.
The plot revolves around a team of Navy SEALs in Bosnia in 1995, in the midst of a violent conflict. During a mission, the team leader, played by Sullivan Stapleton, discovers the existence of a treasure hidden at the bottom of a lake. This treasure is worth it several million dollars in gold bullionit was stolen by the Nazis during World War II and has since been lost.
Motivated not by personal gain, but by the desire to seek justice, the SEALs decide to recover the treasure. They plan to return it to local residents to help them rebuild their lives after the devastation of war in the former Yugoslavia. However, their altruistic mission is not without complications. The team will face many challenges, including the danger posed by enemy forces in the area and the treacherous waters of the lake that hides the treasure.

A huge failure for Luc Besson
Upon his exit, Elite Thieves it is a huge failure, with only 47,000 registrations on French soil. At an international level the situation is no longer sensational, with only two million dollars raised global box office. This is one of the biggest failures for a film produced by Luc Besson and his company EuropaCorpwhich was already in the red at the time of the feature film’s release.
