Twitter hears NBCUniversal’s Maggie McLean Sunnywick as VP of Partnerships

Twitter has hired NBCUniversal CEO Maggie McLean Suniewicz to the newly created role of vice president of partnership, the company said Thursday.

Suniewick was most recently president of NBCU Distribution and Business Development, where he has done deals with companies such as Roku, Amazon, Google, Apple, Snap and Twitter. For Twitter CFO Ned Segal, Suniewick will oversee Twitter’s United Partnership Group, which includes the Global Content Partnership team led by TJ Adeshola, as well as the developer platform and business development teams.

“I’ve worked with Twitter for years and have always been a big fan of the potential of products, people and services. “I am pleased to join you at this important time to continue working with the team to build a partnership of global importance,” Suniewick said in a statement.

The CEO is being hired by Twitter during the transition period as he expects to complete the $44 billion acquisition of Elon Musk. Tesla’s CEO recently suspended trading on the social media platform due to concerns about spam bots and fake accounts, although Twitter recently provided Musk with internal data on these accounts. As the deal continues to change, Twitter has imposed a partial freeze on hiring in roles other than “business critical,” a Twitter spokesperson said at the time, and the company’s stock price has dropped more than 5 percent. last month.

Suniewick appears to fall under the “business critical” exception as he will have a senior partner position.

“Maggie has deep industry experience and relationships that she will use to make an impact with our partners,” said Segal. “We can do a lot more to improve timelines with amazing content, improve our development platform, and deepen our work with technology, media, sports and entertainment partners.”
