Disney unveils the first trailer for Mufasa, the Lion King prequel starring Scar

Mufasa: the Lion King prequel arrives, expected in December

Eight months before its arrival in theaters, the live action prequel to The Lion King dedicated to Mufasa is revealed in a first trailer that lifts the veil on the origins of Simba’s father. So he will be found, although he is only a little lion, fight for survival after a flood separated him from his family.

On his journey he will meet another young lion, Taka, who will later become the main antagonist of the story: the terrible scarresponsible for Mufasa’s death in The Lion King.

As revealed a few months ago, we will find out that Mufasa and Scar are not really brothers. This new film should therefore lift the veil the reason for the animosity between these two former friends. We should also find out how Mufasa became the king of the savannah.

This new live action directed by Barry Jenkins (Oscar winner in 2017 for Moonlight) will be told in the form of flashbacks. In sequences that take place in the present, Rafiki, Timon and Pumbaa (John Kani, Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen) will tell this story to Simba (Donald Glover) and Nala’s (Beyoncé) daughter, named Kiara (and voiced by Beyoncé’s daughter, Blue Ivy Carter).
