Production starring Benedict Cumberbatch, from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, recently arrived on streaming
After the success of Baby ReindeerNetflix has another miniseries for fans to obsess over: Eric. The novelty, starring Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness), recently debuted and is already heading towards the Top 10 on the platform. But is the production based on a true story?
What it is Eric?
The miniseries focuses on Vincent (Cumberbatch), a puppeteer and family man, who sees his marriage fail before his eyes, but continues to fight, day after day, to take care of his son, E d g a r (Ivan Morris Howe), nine years old.
One day, the boy disappears, putting Vincent in a desperate search for the child. With no clues on how to find it, he decides to bring to life a drawing by his son, a monster named Ericand puts it on the television program where he works, with the hope that the boy will see it and return home.
However, the disappearance of E d g a r he takes Vincent becoming more weakened every day and, over time, he begins to see Eric everywhere, as if he really existed.
Eric Is it based on a true story?
The Netflix novelty has a hint of fantasy, with the presence of the blue monster, but it takes place in a very real reality, in New York, in the 1980s. Ericin fact, addresses some very real issues, such as police corruption, racism and the epidemic of AIDS.
Despite this, the story is not real at all and was created by Abi Morganscreenwriter responsible for productions such as Shame (2011), The iron Lady (2011) and The Suffragettes (2015). Watch the trailer for Eric Next:
