The different themes explored by the film

At the end of Adrian Panek’s film the truth behind Monika’s murder is revealed. Luka Kazarski is not the culprit. The latter is actually Mario Dubiela, who in a fit of rage accidentally killed the young woman. To protect him, his father, Tadeusz, decides to blame Jakubiak for the crime. But, unable to ignore his guilt, Mario ends up confessing the truth to the police.

The colors of evil: red explores the themes of morality, remorse and the search for redemption. Rather than try to escape his conscience, Mario chooses to serve the sentence for Monika’s death. His father, who wanted him to remain free, committed suicide. Through his characters, the film’s plot raises the question of the limits of the binary vision between good and evil.

Will the other two books in the trilogy be adapted?

As mentioned above, The colors of evil: red is the first volume of a trilogy of novels by Małgorzata Oliwia Sobczak. And, as mentioned above, the feature film has established itself as a major success for Netflix since its release. We would therefore not be surprised if the streaming giant launched into the development ofan adaptation of the other two books in the trilogy of the writer (titled respectively Black AND White). It remains to be seen whether these adaptations will materialize.
