In May 2023, the series Succession ended after four monumental seasons. The series created by Jesse Armstrong, which debuted in June 2018, kept audiences around the world in suspense as it chronicled the chaotic succession of the Roy family’s media empire. Largely inspired by the life and family of Rupert Murdochmedia mogul, Succession was celebrated by critics, garnered awards at the Golden Globe and Emmy Awards, and established itself as one of the greatest television series in history.
Within the Roy family, under the overwhelming influence of patriarch Logan Roy (Brian Cox), the fate of his son Kendall (Jeremy Strong), presented as the natural heir, is particularly developed. In this role, full of dependence, frustration and desperate energy, Jeremy Strong delivers a remarkable performance which earned him, among other things, a Emmy Award for Best Actor in a drama television series in 2020 and 2022 Golden Globe in the same category.
When the series was interrupted, to everyone’s disappointment as it managed to fascinate from start to finish, Jesse Armstrong explained that he wanted to stop it at the right time. All good things come to an end and you need to know how to stop before you lose your strength or lose your exit. Just recently, Jeremy Strong shared the same opinion.
“For me it’s very nice that it’s over”
In a recent interview with Peoplethe one who became a leading actor with the success of Succession expressed his opinion on a potential revival of the series. And he was very frank, believing on the one hand that the decision was not up to him, and on the other, for him, that it was just like that.
Of course I understand that there is a desire to see more “Succession.” And on this matter I leave the responsibility to its creator Jesse Armstrong. But I think the role I played has reached its conclusion, its end. For me it’s very good that it’s over.
As difficult as it may be for fans of the series, who would be happy to discover a new season or project spin off about one of the many fascinating characters of Successionthe series has protected its posterity and its unanimous reception from critics knowing how to finish at the top. So, as much as we would like to know what happens to Kendall, Roman or even Shiv after this unforgettable “succession”, we will have to cry and leave things there…
