One of the most traumatic films of all time is getting a remake

Isabelle Adjani on fire for an unforgettable terror

In 1981, Isabelle Adjani delivered one of the greatest performances in cinema history. She does it in a psychological horror film that has become a cult and is itself considered one of the best films of all time: Possession.

Directed by Polish director Andrzej Żuławski, Possession tells the following story.

Mark (Sam Neil) returns home to Berlin when his wife, Anna (Isabelle Adjani), decides to leave him. He suspects that she has a lover in the person of Heinrich (Heinz Bennent), an enlightened follower of the New Age. But he tells her that she also left him for someone else. As Mark’s relationship with his wife becomes increasingly strained, he realizes that his new lover isn’t human.

As first revealed by The Hollywood Reporter, a remake of Possession he is on the right track. And it’s Robert Pattinson, leader of the young generation of Hollywood and star of the The BatmanWhich will produce. At the moment his participation in the casting is not expected.

On the making of this new film Possessionis director Parker Finn, whose first feature film smile it was a huge hit — and the sequel is coming this fall — that was picked up.

All attention is now focused on the casting that will be put together. If the remake turns out to be faithful, we will need to find an actress ready to take Isabelle Adjani’s place and give everything to recreate a unique performance.
