Reckless : a more complicated return than expected
Long before Disney decided to develop the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) both in cinema and on the small screen, Netflix was able to take advantage of it to offer several superhero series based on Marvel comics. Reckless had landed on the streaming platform in April 2015. Its dark and violent style quickly convinced subscribers and paved the way for Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist, later reunited in the miniseries The defenders (2017). Except that after three seasons led by Charlie Cox, Disney preferred to contain costs and bring the entire team back to its own platform rather than leave it to the competition. Different shows are available on Disney+ from 2022. It was in the same year that a new series, Daredevil: Born Againwas announced.

Unfortunately for Daredevil fans, time is ticking and the famous blind hero is still not back. This is mostly due to last year’s strikes in Hollywood, but also due to major creative changes. In October 2023 we learned that the production of Daredevil: Born Again he was about to start from scratch. The heads of Marvel Studios (including Kevin Feige) were not convinced by the first episodes produced. A decision that is anything but reassuring, even if Charlie Cox, Jon Bernthal (the Punisher), Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page) and Vincent D’Onofrio (Wilson Fisk) remain involved.
“If you like this type of scene, you won’t be disappointed!”
While we had put this project aside for a while, Charlie Cox, the interpreter of Matt Murdock, finally gave in encouraging news for the development of the series, during a panel moderated by a journalist from Collider. Above all, the actor said that the show will have serious topics to please the audience of the first series, especially including it sequence shots. It is through these types of scenes that Reckless had made people talk about him, with the hallway fight in the first season (a fake sequence filmed in reality), then a crazy 11-minute uncut fight in season three.
Charlie Cox then began his speech by explaining the difference between a real sequence shot and a fake one (also called “charges“). That is, on the one hand, the fact of shooting everything in a single take and without having to resort to editing. And on the other hand there are these “false sequence shots” that use tips for hiding cuts, for example by placing the camera on a piece of black clothing. In any case, Charlie Cox promises that he will be there Daredevil: Born Again steps that will use one or the other technique, and that fans will have something to enjoy.
If you like this type of scenes, you won’t be disappointed!
We can therefore hope that the Disney+ series will be as intense and dynamic as the one offered on Netflix, with action scenes that will amaze the eyes. If the continuation of the production of Daredevil: Born Again okay, we should be able to find out the result in 2025.
