A “pirate” and surfer killed by a shark
The actor, lifeguard and legendary Hawaiian surfer Tamayo Perry died on the afternoon of June 23, 2024 following a shark attack in Hawaii. Aged 49, she was a very famous and well-liked local figure. Honolulu Ocean Safety chief Kurt Lager said in a press conference:
He was a savior loved by all. He is very well known on the North Shore. He is a professional surfer known throughout the world. Tamayo’s personality was infectious and as much as people loved him, he loved them even more.
