The first episodes of the 4th and final season of the series are now available on Netflix and show the protagonist experiencing a love dilemma
Taking audiences on a new tour of beautiful French settings, the first episodes of the fourth and final season of Emily in Paris are now available on Netflix with more dramas and new (and old!) romances, but bordering on the same old thing in their final stretch.
What is the story of season 4 of “Emily in Paris”?
After the dramatic events of the unhappy marriage of Camille (Camille Razat) and Gabriel (Lucas Bravo), Emily (Lily Collins) finds herself torn between two men: Gabrielwho will have a child with his ex, and Alfie (LucienLaviscount), who is suspicious of his friendship with the chef. Again, the chemistry of Emily and Gabriel becomes unquestionable, but secrets threaten to ruin everything. Watch the trailer:
What do we think of the new episodes of the series?
Exploring a “gray area” and being more daring in your relationships, Emily remains trapped in the same limiting love dilemmas. Whether it’s her fashionista side, attempts to achieve successful marketing campaigns or please everyone around her, the character continues to nurture her essence, but doesn’t have room to go further.
Therefore, unlike the third season, the fourth year of the series tries to go a step beyond the love triangle between Emily, Gabriel and Alfie by focusing on the stories and dilemmas of other characters.
With the end of their relationship, Camille assumes a troubled romance with the artist Sofia (Melia Kreiling). Lucien (Bruno Gouery), in turn, uses her contact with a Michelin Guide inspector to help Gabriel to conquer a star.
About that, Julian (Samuel Arnold) will work for the competition and Mindy (Ashley Park) is about to debut at Eurovision while also getting involved with Nicholas of Leon (Paul Forman).
Finally, Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu), head of Emilywho ends up stealing the scene more than once. Valuing her freedom and independence, the character stands out and shows her most affectionate side with her agency’s team.
The series still had the opportunity to bring a new layer to the story by addressing the sexual harassment committed by Louis de Leon (Pierre Deny) with her assistants over the decades, but the topic ends up not gaining the depth, development and, especially, the care it deserved, and returns to focusing on superficial topics.
In the end, Emily in Paris continues to guarantee entertainment with a light and fun story, but it approaches its conclusion without any promises to surprise its audience, letting the charm it had die little by little.
