How Snoop Dogg made Peaky Blinders creator realize the series’ success

During an interview, Steven Knight recalled a sincere conversation with Snoop Dogg, who commented on his past in criminal gangs

Over the course of six seasons starring Cillian Murphy, Peaky Blinders has become one of the most popular drama series in recent years. However, the creator of the production, Steven Knightrealized the success of the series thanks to none other than Snoop Doggrapper of songs like “Young, Wild & Free,” “Drop It Like It’s Hot” and “Gin and Juice.”

During an interview with Desert Island Discs, Knight recalled a meeting with Snoopwhen the artist revealed how Peaky Blinders “reminded him of how he got involved in gang culture” before becoming a world-renowned singer.

“He told me his life story, and it was all about the family keeping him inside, and running away from the family to do bad things, and then the family reallocating their emotions and loyalties to follow him, and then running away again,” she recalled. “He was such a nice guy, it was so nice to talk to him, but it made me realize that there’s something in Peaky that someone has discovered is quite universal.”
