In our opinion, The Acolyte was an interesting proposition. Far from being perfect, the series at least has the merit of moving away from the nostalgia of the Skywalker era and making some interesting attempts at staging the fights, very influenced by Asian cinema. We were also fascinated by episode 5 which proposed a long lightsaber fight. And after its finale, we could hope for a season 2. Unfortunately, Lucasfilm decided otherwise.

The series was canceled after one season

As indicated Expirationthe study does not have not renewed The Acolyte for a second season. And this, despite the good response from the press, with 78% of positive opinions recorded Rotten tomatoes. However, on the audience side, the show was more divided. The series, however, had a sensational debut, with 4.8 million cumulative views on Disney+ within a day of its launch. Only in the following weeks, The Acolyte did not confirm and saw its decline in audience. Second ExpirationThe series even recorded the lowest rating for a Star Wars series finale with 335 million minutes watched.

We will therefore have to settle for this single season of eight episodes. The Acolytewhich has opened the door to interesting theories, especially with the appearance of a mysterious character, who could be Darth Plagueisthe Sith Lord, Darth Sidious’s master. A priori we will not have an answer on this topic. Instead, Disney+ subscribers will soon be able to launch into a new series Star Wars with Skeletal crewscheduled for December 4th. A program that will appeal to a younger audience depending on the tone of the trailer.
