This feature will dive into the final scenes of Taika Waitit’s film. Thor: love and thunderand what it could mean for a main character in the future. Stop reading if you haven’t seen the movie yet or are worried about spoilers.
There were real bets Thor: love and thunder, with Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale) proving himself a worthy enemy of the God of Thunder (Chris Hemsworth) and the mighty Thor (Natalie Portman). There were times when I honestly thought Thor might not make it out of the movie alive … and he was right. By continuing to use the power granted to her by Mjolnir, Jane Foster succumbs to cancer and dies in Thor’s arms . However, there is a kind of respite.
In one of the two credits scenes , we learn that The Mighty Thor is able to enter Valhalla, presumably because (as discussed earlier in the film) she died in battle. Heimdall (Idris Elba) is there to help Jane and welcome her to the afterlife. So Jane is dead. But is it really her? Do people really die in comedy movies? I think there are two interpretations of the scene’s intent in Portman’s credits, so let’s discuss them below and how they relate to the actress’s future in the MCU.
Natalie Portman receives an emotional closure
Let’s just say Natalie Portman’s time in the MCU ended later Thor: love and thunder . Redeem the disappointing ending he had Thor: The Dark World. she is able to do it participate in the much anticipated adaptation of Jason Aaron Thor , who first introduced Jane Foster as the Asgardian warrior. Elements of this comic race are scattered everywhere. Thor: love and thunderand it’s one of the biggest storylines for Foster, so letting Portman star in that movie makes sense in the world.
He had a dignified death. He helped save Asgard’s children and stop Gorr the Butcher God. And he lives his eternity among other famous Valhalla warriors. God’s dream of reaching the afterlife and Jane has arrived. If this scene is meant to be a fond farewell and Portman has no future in the MCU, then it’s a very fitting ending to Jane’s journey.
Natalie Portman is put on hold … until late
If the MCU is going to need Jane Foster later, perhaps as a replacement for Chris Hemsworth’s Thor if the actor ever wanted to retire, then the Thor: love and thunder The credits scene hides it in a safe place, where it could be recovered if necessary. What, don’t you think that with all the realms Thor is able to visit, he couldn’t find a way into Valhalla to get Jane (and even Heimdall) out? Sure it could.
This leaves Jane Foster’s future open. A lot of things would have to happen for her to come back. The story had to make sense. And Natalie Portman would like it. Personally, I think Portman has had a great opportunity to showcase everything she’s capable of in this sequel, and coming back might detract from the effect. But you never know what the MCU might have in mind for Phase 5 and beyond, so it’s nice to still know, for sure, where Foster resides.
Our conclusion
I bet Natalie Portman is over. I think she agreed to come back as Jane Foster to wash the bitterness out of her mouth. Thor: The Dark World from his mouth. She saw what Taika Waititi had done with Thor: Ragnarok and I wanted to join in the fun. But now, they played The Mighty Thor there is nothing more important for him to accomplish, so the end of Valhalla is the end of his journey.
Time will tell if Jane Foster will appear a wonderful movie coming soon . In the meantime, check out her latest adventure alongside Thor and Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson). Thor: love and thunder.
