In 1997, Jennifer Aniston was about to become a Hollywood superstar with Friends still going strong and a growing film career. Getting the scoop on her would have been a big deal, and that task fell to a radio intern who had no luck … at first. According to actor and podcast host Joe Pardavila in her new book, the actress went out of her way to make the interview happen for her.
Pardavila hospitalized Scott and Todd in the morning at 95.5 PLJ in New York in the late 90’s. In his new book, entitled Good Listener: Create memorable conversations in business and liferevealed (via page 6) as he was tasked with interviewing Aniston on the set of perfect image, but his chance was lost after a nasty altercation with a security guard. He has written:
He saw me and guessed what I was about to do. You drew a straight line for me. … Picking up the microphone on the radio, I said in my most reassuring and innocent tone: “Hey, I just want to ask Jennifer a few questions, that’s all.” The guard let me know it wasn’t going to happen. Her tone was neither reassuring nor innocent.
Unfortunately, the rejection didn’t stop there. Jennifer Aniston had heard what was happening and she had told him that she could not speak. That seemed to be the end of her attempt to get that interview with the Friends star, but from there things started to improve, as Joe Pardavila said:
… A few minutes later, Jennifer Aniston asked her assistant to call PLJ’s front desk to tell her that Jennifer felt guilty about what had happened. Better yet, I’d be happy to do an interview with the morning program. … [Jennifer] he talked with us for twenty minutes about the movie he was making, about his time on “Friends”, about everything you would like to talk to Jennifer Aniston.
It’s been over 20 years since Aniston gave this interview while she was working perfect image, but it’s always nice to hear the story of how he helped make everything work for Joe Pardavila after it seemed to be canceled. It’s an even bigger name now than it was in 1997, not just with Rachel Greene on his behalf, but with more films and a successful second series thanks to the morning show.
The fact that it happened when his Hollywood star was on the rise makes it even better in hindsight. The gesture clearly marked the former radio intern, as the story found its way into him in his new book.
This isn’t the first or the only story of Jennifer Aniston’s generosity with her celebrity status. In 2020, surprised Friends fans in the Warner Bros. studio lot. Ellen De Generes’ show. Those celebrating on Central Perk’s recreated set were scared of Aniston, but the fright didn’t last long when they figured out who had appeared behind the iconic sofa.
He even delivered some of them Friends funny on social media recently when she revealed she still has one of Monica’s dresses and showed it wearing it. As for me, I’d love to see a response from Courteney Cox with her wearing one of Rachel’s dresses, but seeing Aniston looking stunning in Monica’s dress was a pleasure in itself.
Jennifer Aniston star won’t be fading anytime soon. She will soon be back on screen with Adam Sandler, the next film. murder mystery 2, which will be available to Netflix subscribers.
