The blonde author praises Ana De Armas’ upcoming Marilyn Monroe film for key details

Marilyn Monroe was one of the most iconic actresses we have had the pleasure of seeing. Joyce Carol Oates wrote the historical fiction novel Blond to give readers an intimate insight into the life of the great screen legend. After getting a chance to see Netflix’s upcoming adaptation, Oates recently praised the finished project for a key detail.

Blond tells how the cost of fame led to the blonde bombshell’s short 36-year life. collider i am talking with Blond author Joyce Carol Oates at the Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival in Switzerland, which saw the Netflix adaptation of her novel and her favorite things from the film.

Andrew Dominick is a very brilliant director. I think he was able to show Norma Jeane Baker’s experience from her point of view, instead of seeing her from the outside, the male gaze looking at a woman. He immersed himself in his perspective.

Capturing Marilyn Monroe’s life on screen can definitely be a challenge as we are used to encountering her through a stranger’s perspective as in My week with Marilyn or through documentaries. Director Andrew Dominick has explained that the deeper meaning behind Blond is to show how the drama of childhood can shape an adult. That even though we see Monroe through the images we saw earlier, we have an intimate look at how she went from being mixed with a dozen different foster parents to “being the most wanted woman in the world” by the masses.

However, Dominick also believes the audience will be offended by the film for not having painted a “cut and dry” portrait. Itching for seven years actress, and leaving her more ambiguous than the public would like. This tone seems appropriate for the film, as Joyce Carol Oates was playing the life of Marilyn Monroe when she wrote the book and Andrew Dominik lends an image to this representation. Only the pop culture icon herself can be the one to talk to about what her life really was like.

One thing that surprised the AFI award-winning director was surprise movie note of the NC-17. Considering the MPAA gave him this adult rating due to “some sexual content”, Dominik is apparently satisfied with the rating of his film. And he doesn’t blame him, considering that “some” sexual content is probably only in certain parts of the film. After all, an NC-17 restricts advertising and can limit the audience that sees the film. While that rating seems like an obstacle to the film earning Oscar attention, it could end up making history in that sense.

Another reason why Oates loved him Blond It was for Ana De Armas recreates the iconic moments of Marilyn Monroe. She applauded de Armas’ dedication to the hours of makeup she had to endure to create the image of the Hollywood star. Whereas this rising star wowed the audience with her performances there is no time to die Yes knives outwe can expect a stellar performance as she brings the Marilyn Monroe show to life.

We will see Andrew Dominik and Ana De Armas show us a glimpse of Marilyn Monroe that we have never seen before in their netflix subscription September 23.
