Lea Michele became known for playing Rachel Berry in Glee, a character who dreamed of starring in Funny Girl
Lea Michele is honoring the years in glee (2009) when starring in the musical funny girl, from Broadway. The actress will replace Beanie Feldstein in the role of Fanny Bricewho announced the early departure of the musical last Sunday, 10, due to the production’s decision “to take the play in another direction.”
“To interpret Fanny Brice on Broadway has always been a dream of mine, and doing so over the last few months has been a great joy and a true honor. Once the production decided to take the show in a different direction, I made the extremely difficult decision to walk away sooner than anticipated,” he wrote. Feldstein on Instagram (via Yahoo!).
Michele became known primarily for her role in the teen series gleewhere he interpreted Rachel Berryan ambitious and talented young woman who had as one of her dreams to be the protagonist of funny girl. The character was also an avowed fan of Barbra Streisendwho had a career boosted after living Fanny Brice.
Over the series’ six seasons, Rachel sang nearly every song in the Broadway play and also played the character after graduating from William McKinley High School. According to the Variety, Jane Lynch who was also in glee like the coach Sue Sylvesteralso left the role of Mrs. brice in funny girl. It will be replaced by Tovah Feldshuhin Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (2015).
Michele and Feldshuh will debut in the musical from September 6. at the time that funny girl returned to Broadway, many fans were hoping to see the actress from glee as a protagonist.
