The plan was always to have them in the beginning and then move on. Because they have their own movie. We were talking about their return at the end. … The thing is, it happens in every movie. Not anymore. More cavalry coming at the end. So we dropped that idea. We just wanted Jane to come to an end.
while talking with knowledgeable person Taika Waititi revealed that initially there was a conversation about the Guardians reappearing at the end, during Thor’s final battle with Gorr the Butcher God , but the director decided not to. Instead, Natalie Portman’s Mighty Thor left her hospital bed to help her ex-boyfriend have another superhero moment before she died in her arms. Plus, the guys from New Asgard had their superpower moment.
So there is a world where the Guardians of the Galaxy would come to Thor’s rescue and help him with Gorr the Butcher God. However, as Taika Waititi said, it looked like something Marvel audiences had seen many times before. Instead, it became a game ending between Thor and Mighty Thor.
