Taika Waititi is a big fan of Kate Bush, but he didn’t like seeing the song on the Stranger Things soundtrack
Unlike fans of Stranger Things (2016), Taika Waititi didn’t like it at all Netflix put on “Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God),” in Kate Bush, on the series’ soundtrack. The song released in 1985 returned to the top of the charts and became a real hit, causing the English singer to break records even without new works.
In the series, the song is used to save Max (Sadie Sink) season four villain, Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower). Nonetheless, waititi recently revealed that he also had plans to include the track on the soundtrack of Thor: Love and Thunder (2022), but now believes that Stranger Things “ruined Kate Bush.”

In an interview with NMEdirector was asked if the songs from Armas e Rosaswhich appear in Thor: Love and Thundercould become popular with a younger audience just like what happened in Stranger Things. waititi he responded:
“I love the show, but it feels like they own the music of Kate Bush… I was very upset. I’ve become one of those suckers who keep talking like ‘these kids never heard Kate Bush, they heard a song in a series. they don’t know Kate Bush. I know Kate Bush!’.”
In an interview with Total Film, Christian Balewho plays the villain caprevealed that waititi had “this kind of thing of Kate Bush” for a dance scene, but he didn’t include it in the final cut of the film because he “realized he would never have permission.”
Now, waititi revealed to want to use “This Woman’s Work” for a scene involving the character of Natalie Portmana Mighty Thor. “Before Stranger Things! Yes, there were a lot of songs from Kate Bush I wish I had put it there.”
When does Stranger Things season 5 premiere?
according to the brothers duffer revealed to Variety (via Marie Claire), last season’s plot is ready. According to the producers, a three-year hiatus for the most recent episodes happened due to the covid-19 pandemic, but the plan is to shorten this interval for the next chapters.
“There was a six-month hiatus during the pandemic when we envisioned season five and sent it to Netflix. The range should be much smaller this time, because we have the initial idea,” they said.
Despite the optimism, audiences should wait at least a year for the fifth season to premiere, as the team was 100% focused on finishing the fourth by the end of May this year.
