Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey – The director reveals one of the most brutal scenes in the film

The portal DreadCentral gave an exclusive interview to Rhys Frake-Waterfield, director and writer of the independent horror film Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey.

The project, which caused quite a stir on the net, centered on the well -known teddy bear and his friend. Biik in the unprecedented and certainly unusual role of the insane with an undisclosed predisposition to home invasion and murder. Now, thanks for the interview released by Rhys Frake-Waterfield, we can learn more details about the film along with the description of one of the most brutal scenes. We suggest below the full interview with the project director and producer:

Dread Central: Are Pooh and Piglet human or animal in your movie?

Rhys Frake-Waterfield: “They are definitely Pooh and Piglet. They’re not just two masked people. The story must be that their violence stems from anger at what happened to Christopher. “

What happened to these men?

Pooh and Piglet have experienced a sharp decline in food since Christopher grew up. Over the years they have become increasingly hungry and aloof. They even had to eat hee-oh. Christopher then returns with his wife to introduce him to his former friends. When this happens and they see them, they will get angry. All the hatred they had accumulated over the years was unleashed and they were furious. It continues when they come to this rural house with the girls. “

How violent will this film be?

Pooh and Piglet have no remorse, and are really sadistic. It’s something I like from the characters. It’s always just Pooh and Piglet. I thought, and convinced the actors, to perform as Pooh as the alpha of the two. […] Piglet is almost a little servant doing just what Pooh wants, this is the relationship they have built over the years. They have developed these sadistic tendencies themselves. So they come out and target people to kill them, and eat them for a living … just food, really. “

Can you reveal one of the most surprising scenes?

The one with the woman in the jacuzzi. In the first draft of his death, he enjoys himself, unconsciously. Immediately afterwards Pooh came from behind and struck his head with a large hammer. But now there is a new scenario where he is tied to the ground. Pooh is in the car, and Piglet is holding him. Eventually Pooh runs into his head, but they laugh at him first. He was lying on the ground, and as soon as he woke up, Pooh didn’t immediately start driving towards him. He started cranking the machine just to scare her more and more and a lot of tension was building up. And finally, even as he walked towards her, he almost rolled the car; it does it very slowly. So that moment was pretty brutal. “

Can you give us an idea of when this film will be released?

I will speed it up as much as possible to finish it as soon as possible. And when it’s done, that’s where we can move on to the trailer. I also think we will do this very quickly. I get emails from different territories who are really interested in distributing it. I don’t know if Netflix would be interested, but it’s really, really nice to have an exclusive version. So things like that are options. “

How do you feel about this viral project?

It’s pretty crazy. Well, the reason I want to do this is because I’m a big horror fan. I love horror. I’ve always watched it since I was a teenager, and I really wanted to do something different. And that’s why I chose this path. I thought, okay, we’re not making a generic werewolf or vampire movie. I wanted to try and find something unique that would excite me and everyone on set. As we were filming this scene, we had so much fun. This is the best job I have ever done. If so the intention behind all of this is I’m sure there’s a small niche horror market here. Because not all horror fans will like it, but I’m sure there are people who love these alternative realities and universes. People will have a lot of fun and really enjoy the movie. “

I know it’s a bit premature, but with all this chaos, are you starting to think about any ideas for the sequel?

We already have a lot of weird ideas. There are other characters included in that universe, which I can’t approach, just because of course there’s a fine line in everything that’s in the public domain. And I don’t want to step on anyone’s feet like this. I just want to stick to what I’m allowed to do, and do my original retelling of it. And I tried to stay as far away from the Disney side as possible. Hopefully, because I’ve done everything right, I’ll be able to move on to the next step. We have a lot of ideas. My little chat groups were going crazy and we were all brainstorming and to see what the next scenario would be to re-introduce it all. We hope this goes well and we can raise the level and be more freaked out and even more to the extreme. I had a lot of twisted and dark thoughts about what I wanted to pass on to Pooh and Piglet, and what scenarios I wanted to put on them and things like that, that hopefully everyone would like.. “

Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey is described on the IMDb portal with a lapidary “horror reinterpretation of the famous legend of Winnie the Pooh“. In the cast, in addition to Natasha Tosini in the role of Lara (the girl from the scene described in the interview), was reported Craig David Dowsett in the role of Pooh, Chris Cordell in the role of Pimp, Nikolai Leon in the role of Christopher Robin, Amber Doig-Thorne in the role of Alice, Maria Taylor in the role of Maria, May Kelly in the role of Tina, Natasha Rose Mills in the role of Jess At Danielle Ronald in the role of Zoe.

We remind you that the birth of this unique version of the character Winnie the Pooh became possible through the temporary expiration of Disney’s exclusive exploitation rights. As we explained earlier, in light of this new situation the director Rhys Frake-Waterfield therefore he took the opportunity to suggest a version of the character that was precisely the opposite of how we are accustomed to think of him.

At the moment no information has been revealed on the distribution of the film, however, we will continue to update you on the developments of this unique project.
