Florence Pugh on the small screen with Netflix
The name of Florence Pugh it is now well known to the general public. Netflix has in fact announced the development of a series that will adapt the novel East of Eden (1952) by John Steinbeck. A book that had already had a film version. Directed by Elia Kazan, the film starred James Dean in one of his most important roles – with La fureur de vivre released a few months later in the United States. For the series, Florence Pugh will not reprise her role as James Dean in a female version of Cal Trask, but she will play Cathy Amesplayed at the time by Jo Van Fleet and an Oscar winner for this role. It is on her that the program will focus this time, the streaming service indicated:
The limited series will explore the multigenerational saga of the Trask family, focusing new attention on its indelible anti-heroine, Cathy Ames.
East of Eden remains in the Kazan family
In addition to Florence Pugh, this new version ofEast of Eden will be worn by Christopher Abbott, who landed the role of Adam Trask. The last notable element of this adaptation, the presence of Zoe Kazan writing and directing the seven-episode miniseries. The latter is none other than Elia Kazan’s niece.
