Elton John will ‘modernize’ The Devil Wears Prada with a musical; understand

In the musical The Devil Wears Prada, Elton John was one of those responsible for the music of the play

The devil Wears Prada will finally get a Broadway musical adaptation, with music co-written by Elton John, who wants to “modernize” the eponymous 2003 book that won a movie in 2006, according to information from consequence.

During an interview with Chicago Tribune, the iconic singer talked about helping bring certain aspects of the classic 2006 film to the present. “We sat down and broached the fact that the movie was made 20 years ago – and a lot has changed,” he said. “Social networks, #MeToo, Black Lives Matter…”

“We think, and we simply cannot put [o musical] in this scenario of 20 years ago. We need to make it modern and update it,” continued the owner of “Rocket Man” in the conversation. “And that also appealed to me because I wanted to make music modern. And it’s a woman’s story.”

With that thought in mind, Elton John asked to work with a woman to write the lyrics: “I got three brilliant lyricists and I chose Shaina Taub. It was a good choice. We got along really well.”

the musical of The devil Wears Prada marks the second time that Elton John worked with a female lyricist. Nearly 40 years ago, she co-wrote “Don’t Trust That Woman,” from 1986, with Cher under the pseudonym of Lady Choc Ice.

The artist wrote most of the score for The devil Wears Prada while on the road. John started work on the production with a song called “I Mean Business” – and finished the final song of the musical recently.
