Los Angeles 2028 Summer Olympics Dates Announced

The Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games began a six-year countdown on Monday, announcing the dates for the Games’ return to the city.

The opening ceremony will be on the 14th of July. The competition runs until July 30th. The Paralympic Games take place from the 15th to the 27th of August.

“These milestones make the Games a reality for all athletes who are actively training for their LA28 dreams and for the fans who follow the journey,” said LA Chief Athlete Janet Evans, a five-time Olympic medal-winning swimmer.

Los Angeles hosted the 1984 and 1932 Olympics.

International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach was present at the announcement. He visited the next locations and met with the LA28 leadership.

“I am really impressed with the progress and creativity of the LA28 team,” said Bach. “They use the power of the Olympics to inspire young people to get involved in the sport.”

The games will use existing stadiums and venues across the region. The organizing committee announced that 15,000 athletes will compete in the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
