Ariana Grande reacted to the criticism he has received about his body.

During a press interview, Cynthia Erivo and she talked to Sallypresenter of a YouTube channel, about Wicked. The French journalist questioned how Big has responded to the imposition of beauty standards on society, mentioning the fixation of her character in the film, Glinda, in relation to appearance.

“I’ve kind of been dealing with this in front of the public and I’ve kind of been a microorganism in a petri dish since I was 16 or 17, so I’ve heard it all,” the singer said. “I’ve heard all versions of this, about what’s wrong with me. And then you fix it, and something else is wrong.”

“It’s hard to protect yourself from these noises, and I think it’s uncomfortable on whatever scale you experience this situation. Sometimes you go to a Thanksgiving dinner, and someone’s grandmother says, ‘Oh, God, you’re more skinny! What happened?’ Or: ‘You’re heavier! What happened?'” she said.

This is an uncomfortable and horrible thing, no matter where it happens or the scale on which it happens. I think that, in today’s society, there is a certain comfort that we shouldn’t have, in any way, to comment on other people’s appearance, what they think is happening behind the scenes, in their health…

Big called the behavior of these types of critics as “very dangerous” and added: “And I think it’s dangerous for all parties involved. I think I’m very lucky to have this support system that I have, to believe and trust that I’m beautiful.”

“But I know what it’s like to feel the pressure of these noises. It’s been resonating in my life since I was 17 years old. I just don’t take the bait anymore,” he assured, after praising Erivo and the interviewer.

I have work to do, a life to live, friends to love, I have so much love.

The actress also said: “Nobody has the right to say shit.”

“I needed this”, he thanked Big. Watch the full interview:

What the internet has said

Since recording began Wicked, Ariana Grande has been criticized by internet users, mainly due to its weight. Twitter users, for example, speculate that the actress lost weight after taking on the role in the production directed by Jon M. Chu.

“Anorexia is no joke, man. Ariana It appears to weigh 40 kg. How did her circle not intervene?” asked one. “This is not hate, I love the girl very much, she is my baby. But the Ariana She’s so frighteningly thin. This is not hate. The sad thing is that some people probably think this is healthy. I used to wish I was as thin as her, but watching her get smaller and smaller was like, no. This destroys me,” reflected another.

Defenders of the singer also spoke out, pointing out that she always looked the way she does today.

“Her chest bones have always shown. They stick out more now that she’s stopped tanning. Now apologize to her,” said a fan. Another protested: “Why are Arianators pretending that Ariana wasn’t always thin??? Her weight has NOTHING to do with her vocal ability. She’s a petite girl. Get over it!!!!”
