Primal: Nicolas Cage goes hunting
In PrimordialNicolas Cage plays Frank Walsh, a big-time hunter who specializes in capturing rare animals destined for zoos. After capturing an exceptional white jaguar in South America, he boards a merchant ship to bring his precious prey back to the United States. However, the journey lasts dangerous turn when a political assassin, also on board, escapes from his cell and frees the captive animals, wreaking havoc on the ship.
The scenario, while promising on paper, suffers from a lack of originality and suspense. Critics pointed out a predictable plot, clichéd dialogue and stereotypical characters. Furthermore, special effects, particularly the depiction of animals in computer-generated imagery, are considered to be of poor quality, which detracts from the film’s immersion and credibility.
