FX is going for another ride Maya’s MC
The Disney-backed entry-level cable network used its time at San Diego Comic-Con to get fans excited about the news that Sons of Anarchy The offspring will return for a fifth season. That the announcement took place at Confab on Sunday was not surprising, as the show’s prequel series has often announced similar news to wrap up Comic-Con. This year marked the event’s return to face-to-face panels following virtual sessions during the height of the pandemic.
“The Mayans fought for respect, territory and power for four intense seasons, setting the stage for an explosive fifth season that will test their survival under the recently announced leadership of ‘EZ,'” said Nick Grad, President of FX Originals. “Elgin James and the creative team, brilliant cast, crew and our partners at 20th Television have continued to engage fans and we are ready to ride with them for another season.”
As part of the renewal, co-creator Elgin James has signed a new multi-year deal with Disney’s 20th Television, the studio behind the show and SOA. James has served as showrunner on the series since co-creator and executive producer Kurt Sutter was fired several years ago.
