Hood sign: this simple test will show if you have osteochondrosis

Usually, osteochondrosis cannot be confused with anything, since its main symptom is unbearable pain in the neck. However, in the early stages, the disease can manifest itself very weakly, thereby misleading us. Therefore, remember an elementary test that will accurately determine your initial degenerative-dystrophic changes.

Cervical osteochondrosis usually manifests itself after 40 years, but it can make itself felt even earlier if you lead a sedentary lifestyle, often use a smartphone, stare at the screen or are hostage to sedentary work.

All the symptoms of the disease do not allow to accurately determine what exactly is the problem. Sometimes pinches in the spine can manifest as a headache that cannot be eliminated with pills, discomfort in the hands and even shortness of breath.

With regard to such cases, there is an elementary way to determine whether you have osteochondrosis or whether the problem is actually something else. It is also called the hood symptom. Now we will explain what its essence is, and you will understand where such a name came from.

Hood symptom: how to easily determine if you have osteochondrosis:

  • apply this method in everyday life, for example the next time you cross the road;
  • standing at a red light, try to turn your neck to the right or to the left to check for cars;
  • if you notice that you cannot turn only your neck, but unconsciously turn sideways with your whole body, then you have osteochondrosis with a probability of almost 100%.

Why is this way of defining disease called the hood symptom? Because people act the same way when a hood is put on their head: it restricts movement and turns them sideways with their whole body at once.
