Band debuted at Rock in Rio – Festival of the same filmmakers – in 2022 as attraction of the Sunset Stage, but did not stay in the main spaces in following editions
In the position of one of the main rock bands to emerge in Brazil in the last 15 years, the Black Pantera has already played in several of the largest festivals in the country, such as Lollapalooza, Knotfest, Best of Blues and Rock, Rock basement And so on. The trio formed in Uberaba (MG) has also built a story with Rock in Rio and his brother event, The Town.
In 2022, the brothers Charles (voice and guitar) and Gama Chaene (voice and bass) and the drummer Rodrigo Pancho (battery) debuted at the carioca festival at the Sunset Stage, considered the second main, in joint performance alongside the Devotee. It caused strangeness, however, when in 2024 they were cast to play on the Supernova stage, interpreted as one of the parallel spaces and without live broadcast of the Multishow or Bis channels.
Already in the current edition of The Town, more specifically last Sunday, 7, were as headliners of the broken stage. Even with his presentation shown by BIS, but it was a feeling that they should occupy a larger space, such as Skyline or The One, the main ones in the Paulistano festival.
Are Chaene and Pancho feel like having suffered a kind of “downgrade”? In an interview with Rolling Stone Brazilthe musicians offered their views.
Rodrigo Pancho initially stated:
“Honestly, I think we are very privileged for playing at mainstream festivals. We play in pubs for 200 to 300 people to this day. I find it a privilege. In addition, we are closing the broken stage. [um downgrade]. We are closing a stage, even if it is an alternative stage. Will be broadcast live. Last year it wasn’t. ”
In turn, Chaene da Gama stated:
“It was nice to open the sunset, after the pandemic, it was a historic moment. It was broadcast. And it’s amazing to see the power of the transmission of a channel like Multishow. We stayed in the most talked about Twitter affairs at the time, we got about 30,000 Instagram followers, this also reverberates in streamings. […] Charles already thinks that for the next we could try something bigger. I said, ‘Calm down, let’s work, we’re doing the right way.’ We know that the production of Rock in Rio is seeing and we are very grateful. ”
Charles, at the end, finished:
“Usually it seems scary that three people master a stage of that size [como os principais do The Town e Rock in Rio]But I see that we can do it quietly. Our show is always like this, whether with 10 people or 2,000 people. We are climbing. Glad we are already in these spaces at the festival, it is wonderful, opens wonderful fans. But if an hour paint [espaço em palcos maiores]you can be sure that we will realize. ”
The future of Black Pantera
