Several Disney+ animations explore coming of age in adolescence

Red: Growing Up Is A Beast is the newest animation in the catalog of Disney+. The film tells the story of Mei Leea 13-year-old girl who has to deal with her overprotective mother, body changes and an old family legacy: whenever she gets too emotional, she turns into a giant red panda.

Sensitive and with a good dose of humor, the feature film brings themes that are rarely addressed in children’s animations, such as menstruation and the complexity of a mother-daughter relationship.
