Luc Besson has written a new thriller, Father Joe
For his latest film, Luca Besson he chose to revisit a literary myth by proposing to us Dracula. This new adaptation of Bram Stoker’s book of the same name, in which Prince Vladimir travels through the centuries in search of his true love, was released in theaters on July 30. Two and a half months later, the French director’s next film is moving forward.
As we learn VarietyLuc Besson prepares Father Joea thriller set in Manhattan in the 1990s. The director wrote the screenplay and will produce it. But this time he won’t realize it. He will leave this task to Barthelemy Grossmann. A man he knows well, since the Swiss has already brought him hisArthur, damn itthe horror film inspired by the franchise Arthur and the Minimoys.
Al Pacino in the casting!
Variety also reveals the three main actors chosen to make the new feature film written by Luc Besson. And one of them is none other thanAl Pacino ! The French filmmaker will therefore collaborate with a new big name for his next project. In the past he worked mainly with Robert de Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer for Underworld.

Next to Al Pacino, Kiefer Sutherland will be on display at Father Joe. The actor famous for the role of Jack Bauer in the series 24 hours will play the lead role in the film. The third actress announced for the distribution of the feature film is Always Andersonwho played a younger version of Natasah Romanoff in Black Widow as well as Wendy Darling Peter Pan and Wendy.
A man of faith at war against organized crime
The title Father Joe refers to the name of the film’s main character. Kiefer Sutherland will play like this a man of faith who wages a violent war against New York’s criminal underworld. Al Pacino will play a powerful mafia boss whose empire clashes with the main protagonist’s crusade. As for Ever Anderson, she will lend her features a young woman caught between danger and redemption under Joe’s advice.
Always second Variety, the filming of Father Joe expected start in mid-October. Or in the days to come. This means that the film will probably be released in theaters not before the end of 2026.
