Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl tops the charts with 4 million sales: ‘I’ll keep this feeling forever’

Taylor Swift completed its victory lap in the first week of The Life of a Showgirl (2025). Your prize? First place on the album chart billboard 200, which marks his 15th number one album and sets a new first-week sales record with just over 4 million equivalent album units. Completing this feat, songs by The Life of a Showgirlfrom Swiftalso occupy all of the top 12 positions on the chart billboard Hot 100.

Node Instagramthe singer reflected on the milestone in a post that recalled the release of her self-titled debut album nearly two decades ago. “I will never forget how excited I was in 2006 when my first album sold 40,000 copies in its first week,” she wrote. Swift. “I was 16 years old and I couldn’t even imagine that so many people would care enough about my music to invest their time and energy in it. Since then, I’ve tried to meet and thank as many people as I could who gave me the chance to pursue this insane dream.”

She continued, “Here we are, all these years later, and a hundred times more people showed up for me this week. I have 4 million thanks I want to send to the fans and 4 million reasons to feel even more proud of this album than I already was.”

The Life of a Showgirl arrived on October 3rd and sold 3.2 million copies in traditional formats, including physical and digital purchases, in just five days. This was thanks, in part, to the CD and vinyl variants she released prior to the album’s release. Most were only available for 24 hours and contained exclusive acoustic versions, demos and voicemails that fueled fan fervor.

There were CD versions titled “Sweat and Vanilla Perfume”, “It’s Frightening”, “It’s Rapturous” and “It’s Beautiful”as well as vinyl versions titled “The Shiny Bug”, “Baby, That’s Show Business”, “Tiny Bubbles in Champagne” and “The Crowd Is Your King”. Then came four more CD releases titled “Alone in My Tower Acoustic Version”, “Dressing Room Rehearsal Version”, “The Life Is a Song Acoustic Version” and “So Glamorous Cabaret Version”. The versions “Dressing Room Rehearsal Version” and “Alone in My Tower Acoustic Version” they also came in deluxe formats.

Fans were able to celebrate the release at screenings in cinemas of The Official Release Party of a Showgirlwhich premiered the music video for “The Fate of Ophelia”lyric videos for the rest of the album, and exclusive commentary from Swift over each track.
