One year after ‘CAOS’: How rapper Alee sees himself today

Taking stock of the anniversary of his acclaimed album, the artist reflects on maturity, the perfectionism of the “Michael Jackson syndrome” and the art of being subtly impactful, while already idealizing his next project

One year ago, on September 23, 2024, Alee immersed the trap scene with CHAOS. Today, looking back, the artist sees the disorder of that period not as an end, but as an essential rite of passage. Chaos was what forged him, and today he sees himself as more mature, focused and aware of his own creative process. “Revisiting this place of chaos is remembering that it was necessary to go through that moment to evolve”, reflects Alee. “Evolution needs to hurt”.

The concept behind CHAOS It was never noise for the sake of noise. Alee positions itself as the conductor of this disorder, the point of balance in the midst of confusion. “I have to be the balance in the midst of chaos”explains. His mission was to translate turbulent feelings in a subtle way, creating a work that impacts without alienating. “It’s scaring without scaring”defines. For him, this approach is strategic: “When you scare too much, you become a target. Now is the time to reap the rewards, not become a target”.

This search for balance is the result of an intense perfectionism, nicknamed “Michael Jackson syndrome”, a characteristic that made the production of the main album a challenge, but also guaranteed the level of quality that he demands of himself. “I’m a very perfectionist, so, for me, things have to be really great for me to want to take the initiative to launch”he admits.

This rigor extends to its entire process. Alee He describes himself as a tireless creator, driven by a daily need to produce. “I already feel uncomfortable if I don’t record a song. I think my day wasn’t productive”account. Generally solitary in his compositions, which arise from freestyles, he takes on the creative leadership of his projects, presenting already structured ideas to his team.

This is already happening with Paganhis next album. “I have already done the entire release of Paganthe lyrics, the cover, the visualizer, what I want to convey”, he reveals, showing that, for him, the music is inseparable from the complete vision of the work. He doesn’t look for someone to do it for him, but “people who add ideas, crazier than mine”.

At the end, Chaos was the stage where Alee turned his deepest pains into art. It was an exercise in courage that he sums up in two words: “overcoming and attitude”. It was about facing problems head on, without fear of judgement. A year later, the dust has settled, but the attitude remains.
