On Man’s Best Friendwhich reached the top of the album chart billboard 200 shortly after its release in late August, Brittany Spanos from the Rolling Stone wrote in a positive review: “His new songs are united by their groove while the heartbreak and disappointment of Carpenter with her masculine options take her on a completely modern tour about dating, hugging and then turning the tables on the ritual humiliation that is being a woman who dates men.”
Carpenter debuted on SNL in May 2024. During the season 49 finale, she performed her hit single “Espresso”which she would later include on her album Short n’ Sweetas well as a medley of two songs by Emails I Can’t Send (2022). The singer-actress was last at Studio 8H in February during the 50th anniversary special, following Paul Simon in a version of “Homeward Bound” of Simon and Garfunkel.
Carpenter will be back in New York next week on the final stretch of his tour Short n’ Sweet. After that, she’ll be in Nashville, Toronto and then Los Angeles.
